So after Sunday;s run which tanked with the On Cloudrunner shoes. I went back to another pair of shoes that I stopped during my #STWM training. I went back to 890v4 and right away I was back running as before. All was back to normal my feed din't hurt apart from where it was hurting before. I did 2 runs this week and it went well. I am also see quite a few runners form the half marathon clinic and coming back to run. I am signed for my next half clinic which starts in Nov. I need to get back to my strength training regime arund I can tell my running is right foot dominant. Need to fix lot of bad habits in running. Yesterday's run Garmin just refused to get a lock on GPS. I finished the 4K run and it never got a lock on GPS> I t was really strange. It was fun to be back at running. Not much to write. So now that the #STWM is over and I rested for a week and ate all sorts of sweets. It was time to get to back to running, and now was the time to explore new shoes and techniques. So I decided to wear my new On Runners "CloudRunner" Shoe. It did not go well as expected. Now I am not sure if it my stiff muscles or the shoe. It was weel the first 10min but after that I could feel pain in strange places that I did not feel before. Both my foot had pain in the outside of calf muscle. It felt horrible and soon the pain behind kneee showed. I limped my walf form the half way point. I can tell the it forces me to land of for feet a lot but the shoe sole is really stiff and does not flex at all. I guess I am not planning on running a lot this week need to take it slow till I feel better but first impression about Cloudrunner shoe was that it does not fit me that well. The stiff sole is definitely not something that is going to work for me. I am going to give it a try few more runs before I pull the plug in this. ![]() So I have been training and blogging about #STWM for a while and finally today was the day. I got way early 5:45am and got ready had a toast as I had settled down over number of trials I ran on Sunday's. I had laid all my race gear the night before. The race was super packed I had to start my way with the orange coral, parking took a longer than I expected and now I now not risk it next time. Go there lot early I ran almost 4K from eaton ceter to the start all the way down to Univ and King. I was able to catch up with the 2:30 pack bunny and that was really usefull. I really like the idea of tailing someone who is my pace and I just kept along with the 2:30 pace bunny. I now blame the run from Eaton ceter to start of me missing my 2:30 goal , I was good with 7min/km pace last time and this time it was good too. I was not tiered, but my right foot got stiff and it was really bad after 13Km. Luckly that was the turn around point at Elis and I was able to keep going. My ham is still stiff as usual it should be good in day or two. Overall I was bit disappointed that I came so close to my goal.I had 20min to do last 3K which was total doable but after 18K it seemed too much to ask from my body. I eventually finished my run and I checked of my bucket list item of finishing a Half. I did 2:33 on my Garmin the chip time was 2:36 both too close to my goal. Both Garmin 610 and heart rate monitor worked really well today. I finally have medal that looks like a real medal. I have posted my results and medal snapshot below. More to come now next half next year but running will continue. I tried tapering my run and to my surprise when I stopped training so did I started to sleep less. I noticed that every day that I did not run I end up staying up upto 2/3am and the next day goes horrible. So I ran today not a lot just around 3K. It felt good it was raining a bit. I was supposed to go pick up the race kit not sure if my plans to go to there are going to work out. If not I will have to go all the there on Sat. Guess not much to write trying to stay safe though my calf injury is back and it hurts while running too. I hope next 2 days I get to rest and keep the calf muscle relaxed and hope i get sleep. The clock is ticking for #STWM now its like 5 days away. This week is the last week for training to for Half marathon @STWM. Give that the Sunday long run was 6K I was expecting today's run to be same. To my surprise we had to run 10K and it was not bad. Now 10K does not feel like I ran anything its what I use to fell about 5K when I was doing 10K training. I was usual run west on wellington to Bathrust and than to Martin Good man train and back. I think my last week's travel for working wearing that formal shoe has bought back my injury. I can feel the pain in calf muscle again not sure if I want to go to physio again. I was really hoping it was behind me hopefully not running next few days should help to relax the muscle a bit. Not much to write about the run as of yet. ![]() So today's run was supposed to be longest run before the race and we did 20K, The elusive 21K felt so close and today's run was really great and different. I stuck with last group who has run quite a few half marathon's and unlike all my previous runs where the pace would be all jumpy. Today's run was really good and I was not dead like in all my previous runs' I felt I was fresh till first 8K, I really only slowed down twice once at 17K and the last km which was hard. i had to use the gel at 17Km to replenish the salts and sugar. I hope i don't get sore again like my last run. Garmin 610 worked well today , I forgot the heart rate monitor need to find it where I left it last time. I am going to miss my next week;s training and hope it does not adversely affect my race day run's but at this stage I am assuming rest is good. We actually went down the actually #STWM race route just cut short at The Boulevard club, which is about 1K short of the final race. As usual its a fantastic route by the lake. It was chilly when we started but after we hit bloor it did not matter much. Here is how the run went. Today people from work had organized a bike ride event so had to skip running and get my bike out of closet. Damm I really suck at riding a bike my legs give up so fast. This speaks to my bad running habit where I am not consistent with my pace it all bouncing up and down. For doing a bike ride I need to peddle steadfast and one pace and I never got there. It was really a great event I went down all the way to down town and we went from there to "FBI Pizza" along lake shore. It was fantastic pizza place. I know this is a my training blog but it was really good place to go. Overall we did almost 35K and I was supposed to another 15K back home but decided against it. Mostly due to Saddle soreness. I really hate that even though I can physically do it that soreness prevents me from enjoying it. I know the only fix is to keep biking and I am hoping once my Half marathon at #STWM is done I can go back to it. Overall Garmin 610 worked perfectly and I really like the new interface they have on Garmin connect website. Kudos to team Garmin where they deserve it. Here are all the routes.
I skipped my regular speed work planned with my half marathon group. I did not want to stop my recovery and my calf muscle needed the necessary rest. I ran with my old clinic coach, she headed my learn to run clinic and than next 5K and 10K clinic. I ran with the learn to run team and they were doing there final run before the race day on Sunday. They were doing regular 5K and it was route that I took when I did same clinic. It was lot slower so I could look around and remember all the spots where I always stopped and wished to go home. I would be dead by the time we hit Parliament and lake shore.By the time I reached Loblaws I used to be dead. It was great today 5K really does not even register as run anymore. Its so funny. Than we ran up hill on Yonge and that a bad spot for me before now it was not a hill which i used to dred before. It was good run and good to see fellow runners doing this. I am sure most of them would sign up for next clinic. My Sunday run is 20K need to rest for that now. I forgot my Garmin 610 home so no route to show today. |
