This is 2nd week in a row I was able to do more than just running. I was able get 2 good bike rides and also get my strength training session too. I am happy with the way training is progressing. Now only need to stay away from over training. I do have very tight calf muscles so this week its time to relax a bit and lit things loosen up a bit.
We also managed to got bike ride for a lunch on one of the weekdays it was nice. The weather that day was not too hot and it was cloudy so it was comfortable riding the bike in afternoon. The same time I also stilling trying to move the step challenge to next level and I need to top the 100K step challenge. I might miss out again this week , yesterdays rain spoiled some plans and kept me indoors for longer than I expected.
Here is how the bike ride went. We went all the way east to Leslie street and than up north to Broad view and Dundas. It was nice park there . We picked up Burritos; on the way for lunch. I am still trying to get at least 50K a month now on my bike. With running and strength training sessions I have only one day left for bike riding and that's' why I have to scale back on the mileage. Here is how the bike ride went.
For the run we ran the same route as last week and went west along Queen's Quay to Ontario place and back. It was really good tain the rain had turned into a nice mist and it was nice and foggy with slight wind. Here is how today;s run went.
Today people from work had organized a bike ride event so had to skip running and get my bike out of closet. Damm I really suck at riding a bike my legs give up so fast. This speaks to my bad running habit where I am not consistent with my pace it all bouncing up and down. For doing a bike ride I need to peddle steadfast and one pace and I never got there. It was really a great event I went down all the way to down town and we went from there to "FBI Pizza" along lake shore. It was fantastic pizza place. I know this is a my training blog but it was really good place to go. Overall we did almost 35K and I was supposed to another 15K back home but decided against it. Mostly due to Saddle soreness. I really hate that even though I can physically do it that soreness prevents me from enjoying it. I know the only fix is to keep biking and I am hoping once my Half marathon at #STWM is done I can go back to it. Overall Garmin 610 worked perfectly and I really like the new interface they have on Garmin connect website. Kudos to team Garmin where they deserve it. Here are all the routes.
Damn the head and humidity bought the first heat and smog alert in Toronto for summer of 2014. Damn I was dehydrated at the turning point. Muscles started to get cramps and I think I hurt my calf muscle bad. I was limping back slow pace . Stairs hurt now. Its I need to do RICE but not sure if I have time for the "R" (Rest). Tomorrow its hills 6 repeats and that too at River dale not sure why!!!!. I hope icing it today and keeping it elevated it going to help if not I might have to skip tomorrow's run. I really don't want to take a break now when we are really ramping up distances and hills. This Sunday run is 16K that close to HF distance. Garmin 610 got its heat panic I guess as usual could not lock at the start. Now really debating if I should spend 299 on Garmin fenix 2. Money wish it grew on tree's. It was a simple run to parliament along queens' quay and back. So my trainer did not show up today, and it was really nice outside. I wanted to run but than I have another long run planned for tomorrow morning. So decided to bike it was very casual going through local streets and it was good. I did 10K and it really does not get cardio up as much as running does. But it gets good leg workout without hurting as much as running. So shaved 7 min from my previous ride on same route. This time almost did half the hill on Daveport and did the full york mills hill. It was really great this was fun. Now need the bike boots for sure.. Damm this biking is going to cost a lot more. Now I also see why I need a brompton but alas not now. Talk to Larry and the Half Iorn needs 90K bike ride :) :) .. Need to try that distance on flat routes more. Now I am barely doing 15K and I am out. It was up hill but still it took me out. here is how it went. Finally I was able to get through the York Mill hill, a week ago it looked the Lawrence hill was real dud and sucked out all energy going any way. Today since I dint have to go work on the way back, It did not matter how soaked I was in sweat. It was really bad but was able to get up there and finish the full coarse. Now need to get distance on bike I need to be able to do at least 40K before I can run 22K. For sure biking is best cross training sport for me right now. Gets my quads and hamstring strong without hurting them. Now just need to find time to strength training to complete the full training for Half marathon. Plan was to do alternate day biking and running but ended up doing both today and it was not bad. Biking was down Yonge st was good . Got new fenders and cage helped during the bike ride. The run was with regular group and it was just usual 4K.
So Friday evening decided to bike back uphill from down town. It was hard but doable I am sure next round back up is going to lot easier. I got to Eglinton in first pass had to get the bike fixed. I like how light Specialized Sirrus is and really not repenting my choice yet. I think it is the best sub 500$ bike for road and off road riding. I got the fenders installed and cage for water bottle. Here is how the ride went. |
